Hudson County Mulls Extending Light Rail to Route 440

In 1997, the last light rail station in Jersey City was finished on West Side Avenue. Since then, the city has added more than 30,000 residents and expanded further and further from the waterfront. Or rather, the Hudson River waterfront. Right now, there is a ton of construction, remediation, planning and developing planned along the Hackensack River on the west edge of the city.

Japan Rail Car Builders Rolling Out Next-Gen Diesel Trains

Japanese train builders are readying fuel-efficient, diesel-powered cars in anticipation of brisk demand both in Japan and abroad. Kawasaki Heavy Industries has devised a new train car equipped with a diesel power generator. Electricity from the engine moves the motor that turns the wheels, rather than the diesel engine propelling the wheels.

L.A. Metro receives milestone 50th Kinkisharyo light rail vehicle

Celebrating a milestone and an enhancement for rider convenience, the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (L.A. Metro) today took delivery of the 50th Kinkisharyo International (KI) Model P3010 Light Rail Vehicle (LRV) and announced reduced headways on the Metro Expo Line from 12 minutes to six minutes.
